Case Study: English Manor Homeowners Association
CHALLENGE
Board members of the English Manor Homeowners Association in Woodbury, Minnesota were fed up. After years of dealing with an unresponsive, ineffective property management company, they decided to self-manage their small community of 53 homes. Their hope was that self-management would be more effective and save the community money, too.
Self-management didn’t work out as well as they wished. All of the board members had families and full-time jobs, which made the time commitment of self-management too much. The board also longed for professional support to ensure the proper handling of important paperwork and funds.
SOLUTION
The English Manor Homeowners Association transitioned from self-management to working with Community Development, and experienced an immediate change for the better. To start, Community Development provided on-site inspections of the property, to proactively assess what needed attention. “We no longer need to self-report everything,” said one board member.
As with all of our clients, we responded to all calls and e-mails in one to two business days. In addition to prompt responses and service, the board also received Board of Directors Leadership Training at no extra cost. This training gave board members the information and tools they needed to better understand financial documents, governing laws and other association basics.
