Case Study: Timbers Homeowners Association
CHALLENGE
The Timbers Homeowners Association oversees 54 homes in their small Coon Rapids, Minnesota community. The board of directors was feeling a lack of support from their existing property management company. They needed guidance on running board meetings, interpreting financials and performing collections. But the property management company they had in place offered no such support for board members. “It felt like we were training them sometimes,” said Christine, a board member.
SOLUTION
The frustration of working with an unsupportive management company drove the Timbers board to look elsewhere. Once they made the switch to Community Development, the Timbers board attended our free Board of Directors Leadership Training. During the training session, we covered the basics of associations, roles and rules, how to run board meetings, risk management and more. The Timbers board left feeling empowered with the information they needed to effectively oversee their community.
